Biography
Polish soprano Magdalena Stefaniak is a graduate of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań where she studied under Professor Barbara Mądra and she is a graduate of Opera Academy of the Polish National Opera.
Ms Stefaniak made her operatic debut as Countess Rosina Almaviva in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at Teatr Wielki in Poznań.
She has successfully taken on the roles of Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème, Psyche in Różycki’s Eros and Psyche (Baltic Opera in Gdańsk); Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Alice in Kaczmarek’s Alice in Wonderland, Fruma Sarah in Bock’s Fiddler on the Roof, Flowers Fairy, Whispering Woman and Laplander in Kaczmarek’s The Snow Queen (Teatr Wielki in Poznań); First Dame and Papagena in adaptation of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte - About the Kingdom of Day and Night and Magic Instruments, Paggio in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Basia in Stefani’s polish vaudeville A miracle, or Cracovians and Highlanders (Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera), Sister in Prokofiev’s The Fiery Angel (Festival International d'Art Lyrique d'Aix-en-Provence - Grand Théâtre de Provence); Hanna Glawari and Valencienne in Lehár’s operetta The Merry Widow (Masovian Musical Theatre in Warsaw, Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic in Białystok); First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, Komische Oper Berlin).
In 2019 she performed the soprano part in Stravinsky’s Les Noces that was performed on the stage of Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera.
Next season 2022/2023 the artist will create for the first time Hanna’s role in The Haunted Manor by Moniuszko (Baltic Opera in Gdańsk) and Frasqita's role in Carmen by Bizet (Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera).
The soprano has worked with the following conductors Patrick Fournillier, Michał Klauza, Kazushi Ono, Bassem Akiki, Gabriel Chmura, Rafał Kłoczko, Marta Kluczyńska, Łukasz Borowicz, Andrzej Knap, Stefan Soltesz, Andriy Yurkevych.
She performed in productions by directors such as Karen Stone, Mariusz Treliński, Barrie Kosky, Michał Znaniecki, Sjaron Minailo, Henryk Konwiński.
