Biography

Simona Liamo (soprano) graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre where she studied under Irena Milkevičiūtė, one of the nation's legendary sopranos. She honed her skills under the guidance of other well-known Lithuanian and foreign singers and musicians, such as Violeta Urmana, Geham Grigorian, Sigutė Stonytė, Irina Dolzhenko, Sergey Malcev, Vincent Dumestre, Raminta Lampsatis, Elena Batoukova Kerl, Carmen Santoro, Olga Eleonora Taškinaitė, Algirdas Vizgirda and Robertas Beinaris and with conductors such as Modestas Barkauskas, Julius Geniušas, Vytautas Lukočius, Modestas Pitrėnas, Gintaras Rinkevičius, Martynas Staškus, Robertas Šervenikas, Alvydas Šulčys, Ričardas Šumila, Karolis Variakojis.

In 2015 Liamo teamed up with Le Poeme Harmonique early music ensemble for the production of Giovanni Maria Pagliardi's marionette opera Caligula, where she appeared as Teosena. Also, Liamo has appeared as Micaela (George Bizet's Carmen), Juliet (Vincenzo Bellini's I Capuleti e I Montecchi), Kseniya (Modest Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov), Annina (Giuseppe Verdi's La traviata), Blueberry (Jonas Tamulionis' Cranberry) and the part of Voice from Heaven (Giuseppe Verdi's Don Carlos) at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre. 

Liamo collaborates with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra (the sang soprano in Carl Orff's cantata Carmina Burana, the second soprano in Johann Sebastian Bach's Mass b minor and Reinhold Glier's Concerto for Coloratura and Orchestra op.82, I part) and with Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society ensemble Musica Humana. She takes part at international festivals such as Resurrexit, Curonian Spit and Johann Sebastian Bach Music Festival, and she boasts a rich chamber music repertoire.

Liamo participated in the documentary film directed by Virginija Vareikytė and Maximilien Dejoie When we talk about KGB. Also, her voice was recorded on a CD Reflections of the time and a CD Visions with Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society ensemble Musica Humana - music by Lithuanian composers. With contemporary music ensemble Synaesthesis Liamo voice was recorded on a CD The Book of the Beginning and the End where she performed music of the legendary Lithuanian composer Algirdas Martinaitis.
